The Arizona Lottery - The Pick - is the original lotto game of Arizona.
It offers 4 different ways of winning Pick 3, Pick 5, Powerball and The
Pick. The guaranteed jackpot is $1 million, but of course as a roll-over
jackpot this quickly increases.
The lucky numbers are drawn twice a week, on every Wednesday and
Saturday. There are two ways of selecting your numbers - either hand
pick your own six numbers or let the computer Quick Pick select them for
you. After the draw you can check your numbers online using their handy
tool, in case you miss the draw. The drawing method is digital,
certified to be completely random..
With nightly draws there are lots more winners more regularly than with
weekly lotto`s. The different Arizona Lottery options give you
more ways to win - you can take the Pick 3 where you choose 3 numbers,
the Pick 5 where you pick 5, the Powerball where you pick 5 +2, or The
Pick where you choose 6. You can also take the Extra option, which gives
you 6 extra numbers. This allows you a chance of winning spot cash
prizes up to $250.
Over $2 billion dollars have been generated for the state of Arizona
by the lottery over the past 20 years, and this has been distributed
among a wide variety of projects and causes. It was the first legal
state-administered lottery west of the Mississippi.
Payout Information
If you win the lottery jackpot, you get to choose
between either a lump sum payout of around half of the jackpot and the
rest as an annuity, or the whole amount as an annuity over 30 years.
This annuity can be bequeathed.
Tax Information
The State of Arizona is legally
required to deduct 25% of winnings as federal taxes and an additional 5%
for Arizona state income tax - in the case of US citizens. For non-US
citizens, 30% is withheld for federal tax and 6% for state taxes. If
due, rebates can be claimed by winners when submitting tax returns.
