August 26 - When I hear about stories of UK Lottery jackpot winners who win
millions and millions of pounds and yet still want to continue working in their
crappy, everyday and average jobs, it makes me want to slap them hard across the
face and shout 'wake up sunny jim, you don't have to work anymore!'
Apparently Carl Prance, a train driver from south Wales in Great Britain, does
not share my cynical outlook on work because the plucky 50-year-old, and his
siblings, recently shared a 6.9 million pound UK Lottery jackpot. The weird
thing is that instead of retiring, Carl chose to go back to work.
After Carl won his UK Lottery windfall in October last year he resigned and
accompanied his family on a series of posh holidays all over the world for
almost a year. Then the strangest thing happened. Carl realized that he missed
his job of getting up at 5am to be at work at 6am to drive trains.
So the UK Lottery multi-millionaire returned to work. Now the only difference
between his job before he won the lottery and after he won the lottery is that
now he drives himself to work in a luxurious Jaguar. Gone are the days of a
rattling old rust bucket. Now its all walnut and leather interior thank you.
Said Carl, 'I am sure that people may consider me mad returning to work with all
this money but trains are in my blood. My father and grandfather worked on the
railways all their lives. I couldn't spend the rest of my life on holiday. After
a few months of holiday I was itching to get back to work.'
As for Carl's lucky family, in a move that would make any guest on Jerry
Springer green with envy, they have each bought a luxury caravan on trendy
Trecco Bay. Assuming you're a snob, before you scoff at the last sentence, just
know that these caravans are each worth about 65,000 pounds.
'I could have bought a holiday home anywhere in the world but me and my siblings
- who shared the UK Lottery jackpot - love our caravans more. I've been coming
to Porthcawl since I was a little nipper and I've always dreamed of having my
own luxury caravan there. It is a dream come true,' said Carl.
