July 23 - South Africa is a country well known for its wide gap between the
'haves' and the 'have nots', which is probably why so many of its citizens play
the South African Lotto twice a week, for the chance of becoming a have
overnight, just like one recent winner.
Choosing to remain anonymous, the lucky Lotto winner, recently won himself a
little more than R5 million in a National Lottery Draw earlier this month, and
when interviewed by South African National Lottery operator, Gidani, expressed
what the windfall meant to him.
'Thanks to the SA Lotto I once again have my dignity. I now feel like a
real man because I can finally afford to look after my family properly and we
can all stop living from hand to mouth now that I'm a multi-millionaire. Lady
luck has smiled on me,' he said.
Ironically before buying the winning South African Lotto ticket for R2.50 that
yielded him R5 million rand, the lucky winner was the only person in his whole
family with a steady job as a lowly paid artisan. He said that all of his money
went to feeding the family with nothing left for him.
'I am so happy that I now don't have to worry about money anymore. I haven't
told anyone about my lotto jackpot including my family, because I first want to
put some plans into place as to how to best invest my winnings in ways that can
help the members of my family achieve their dreams,' he said.
'From many conversations when we had nothing, I know exactly what most of my
family members want out of life and I will try to make it happen for them. As
for me, to keep my family together, I will use some of the money to build a new
house. Thanks South African Lotto.'
According to Gidani, the winner used to buy two South African lotto tickets for
every Wednesday and Saturday draw.
