April 5 - For one lucky South African, the evening of Saturday, March 28th will be a night he or she will never forget, because that was the night when they became an instant millionaire after being the sole ticket holder to win the South African National Lottery R20-million jackpot (US$2.2-million).
The mammoth jackpot was part of the National Lottery March Madness promotion, where the bigger-than-usual jackpot was widely advertised across the nation for many weeks before the big draw. The lucky lotto numbers drawn were 12, 18, 19, 20, 31, 37 and the bonus ball was number 4.
According to Gidani, the operator of the National Lottery, sales for last Saturday's lotto draw totaled just over R40-million, while the total prize was R35.3-million. After the lucky ticket holder won the R20-million grand prize, 5 winners with five numbers and the bonus each won R151,498.00.
