North Carolina Ticket Wins $141m Powerball Jackpot - 02-10-10

February 10 - Life-changing cannot even begin to describe what winning a $141 million Powerball lottery jackpot must be like, but one thing is for sure and that is whoever the winning ticket holder is from North Carolina who won the whopping windfall, will soon find out for themselves.

In Saturday night's Powerball draw in the United States, the called numbers 14, 22, 52, 54, 59 and Powerball number 4 matched only one ticket which Powerball officials later confirmed was purchased in the state of North Carolina. However, the lucky winner has yet to come forward.

While there was only one winning Powerball lottery ticket, ten other ticket holders matched the first five numbers, but missed the Powerball netting each of them a cool $200,000. While just a fraction of the $141 million jackpot, in these tough economic times $200,000 is a ton of money.

Now that the Powerball has finally been won after been rolled over for several weeks, it will be reset at $20 million for tonight's draw (Wednesday, February 10). And in other lottery news, tomorrow night lottery fans will be hoping to catch the $32 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot.

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot was rolled over on Friday night when there was no outright winner. However, two ticket holders who had the first five numbers - 10, 20, 45, 51 and 53 - but missed the Mega Ball number 41 each scooped a none-too-shabby $250,000 lottery windfall.

The Powerball lottery is administered by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which is a non-profit, government-benefit organization owned and operated by its 33 member lotteries. This means that every MUSL member must offer at least one lottery game promoted by MUSL.
