Lotto Jackpot Millionaire Fired in Big Apple - 08-01-08

August 1 - In probably one of the most bizarre stories to come out of the United States since George W, Bush got elected for a second term, a New York City doorman and lottery millionaire, Richie Randazzo, has filed a grievance with his union for being fired from his job for no apparent reason.

This begs a couple of questions. One, if you won a $5 million jackpot and you worked as a doorman in some swanky Park Avenue apartment in Manhattan, would you actually give a toss about your job? Hell no! I'd be outta there faster than you could say, 'Hail me a cab would, you Richie.'

Two, what kind of people (Brown Harris Stevens who manage the building and employed Randazzo) would choose to fire a lowly doorman (although I hear the tips can be pretty good) just because he no longer has to rely on his weekly pay check?

Heck, if the guy would rather hail cabs, open doors, carry bags and dress in a dinky uniform in the steel and concrete megalith and terrorist Mecca that is New York City, than chill out on a broad sun-baked beach in Barbados surrounded by bevy of big-breasted blonde and brunette beauties, why stop him?

Two very excellent questions even if I say so myself, which I just have. According to Randazzo, he was fired from his much-loved position by Brown Harris Stevens for no good reason. In fact no reason at all. The company allegedly did not provide him with any reason why he was fired - god, bad or ugly.

A spokesperson for the union representing the Park Avenue apartment confirmed that Randazzo told them he'd been fired. As a result, Randazzo has brought his case before the union's grievance centre for action, with the intention, presumably, of getting his job back. Perhaps he lives by the credo: Once a doorman, always a door man.

Kind a like George W. Bush's credo: Once a moron, always a moron. Since winning his $5 million lottery jackpot, Randazzo receives $65,000 every three months.
