Lottery Winner Stabbed And Killed - 05-08-08 |
May 8 - Doris Murray thought that life couldn't get any better. A year ago she won the Georgia lottery jackpot on her 41st birthday!
Today Murray is dead. And the man charged with the dreadful deed is none other than her boyfriend of a while, Derrick Lorenzo Stanley, 51. No one is quite sure what had gone wrong in the relationship, but Murray wanted to end it with him and he couldn't accept it and apparently started making a fair nuisance of himself. Being the cynics we are, we have to wonder if he was obsessed with her or her money...
Neighbors reported a domestic disturbance and when police arrived they found Murray stabbed to death in the small block home she had been living in for many years. Stanley dashed to a car and drove away. To cut a long story short, after a car-chase worthy of OJ Simpson, Stanley crashed the car and was arrested on the scene. He was charged with the murder today.
What a tragic ending to a well-loved Georgia lottery winner who had set up education trust funds for all of her grandchildren with her wonderful win.
