Kansas Lottery Fan Wins two Jackpots in one Year - 08-13-09

August 13 - While it is no secret that the vast majority of lottery fans will go for most of their lives without winning a major lottery jackpot, 47-year-old Edward Williams from Wichita, Kansas is not one of them after winning not one but two impressive lottery jackpots in less than one year.

In September last year, long-time lottery fan Williams bought himself a $10 lottery scratch ticket which unbeknownst to himself was about to yield him a none-too-shabby jackpot prize of $75,000. Ecstatic at his windfall, Williams bought a car with his winnings and invested in some kind of CD.

But it seemed that Lady Luck was not yet done with Williams as earlier this week, the lucky lotto player won himself another lottery windfall, only this one was 12 times bigger than his first. In Monday's Super Kansas Cash draw, Williams matched all the numbers to win a whopping $900,000.

Of course, after taxes he'll come out with just under $630,000, but that's not a bad investment. If Williams was pleased after his jackpot last year, then he was 12 times more happy after his recent good fortune. And why not, as the lottery supporter no longer has to worry about his retirement.

'When I hit $75 000, I figured lighting struck once, it won't ever hit again,' said Williams in a statement released by Kansas Lottery officials. 'This recent jackpot very nearly knocked me flat. Last time out I used up my winnings, but this time, I'm saving it for retirement, which I hope to do at 55.'

An ex-Marine, Williams admitted to playing Super Kansas Cash, Powerball and other big jackpot lottery games for 17 years. It just goes to show that there is no rhyme or reason why some people get lucky and others don't. The only fact about lotteries is that 'you have to be in em to win em.'
