June 25 - Whenever people in England talk about someone that is uncannily
lucky, inevitably they describe the person as having 'the luck of the Irish'.
Well, ahead of this evening's super-lucrative Irish Lotto draw, all
Irish Lotto ticket holders must surely be wishing they have the luck of
themselves.
God knows if I was Irish and living on the 'Emerald Isle', I would be donning my
favorite Leprechaun suit and wearing my most expensive shamrock-embroidered
underwear, if it meant I was one tenth of a micron closer to winning 17 million
Euros and having enough money to woo the Corrs sisters.
Think about it, 17 million Euros. That is serious dosh, moola, cabbage, green or
money. Not being Irish I cannot know this for sure, but with 17 million Euros of
Irish Lotto money, I expect you could buy a pint or two of Guinness for every
person (above the age of 18 of course) in Ireland.
Or you could probably afford to buy your own whiskey distillery and create your
own brand of amber pleasure calling it something subtle and Irish like
'Finiganlotry Single Malt'.
Then again, you could always impress your friends and family by hiring U2 to
play in your very own back yard while enjoying a lavish barbeque. (Only material
up to and including The Joshua Tree, mind, because after The Streets Have No
Name, it has all gone sadly downhill for lads).
But whatever you choose to spend your 17 million Euros of Irish Lotto jackpot
money on, just know that you'll hold the record for the highest Irish lotto
jackpot payout in the history of the land - the previous best being 16 million
Euros won by the Cunningham family in Cork last year.
Irish Lotto chiefs are expecting a major rush in lotto retail outlets ahead of
tonight's 8pm (GMT) draw.
