August 13 - For northwest Iowa resident, Nancy Fear, Iowa Lottery
proved that it can deliver more than just generous cash payouts and lucrative
jackpots, after she won herself a brand-spanking new 2008 four-wheel drive Chevy
Tahoe Hybrid as part of an exciting lottery promotion.
In July this year, Nancy was one of eight lucky Iowa Lottery players
chosen as a semi-finalist in the Iowa Lottery's 'Set of Wheels' promotion. Last
week, she and the other semi-finalists were put up in a hotel and given $200 in
spending money ahead of the final promotion draw at the Iowa State Fair.
During the draw at the Iowa State Fairground, whichever of the semi-finalists
names were pulled randomly out of drum were eliminated, until only one name
remained, which turned out to be lucky Nancy.
The lucky grand-prize winner was ecstatic as she was handed the keys to her new
$79,000 four-wheel drive Chevy Tahoe Hybrid as well as a $500 ethanol card and
$1,000 in cash. She couldn't wait to tell her family the good news. 'They're
waiting by the phone and will be so excited for me,' said Nancy.
'After winning such an expensive car I have to admit that I'm a little nervous
driving it. Perhaps I'll let my husband drive it home from the fair. I can't
wait to see my neighbors' expressions when we pull up in my new SUV.'
Nancy entered the 'Set of Wheels' promotion on the Iowa Lottery's website where
she submitted the serial numbers from her non-winning $20 'Set For Life'
instant-scratch tickets.
Said Ken Brickman, acting CEO of the Iowa Lottery, 'We are thrilled to give away
the vehicle, as the grand prize, that was named 2008's 'Green Car of the Year'
by the Green Car Journal. The promotion was a great success as from May 23rd
through July 13th we received 12,000 entries online.'
