GBP 3.6m UK National Lottery Ticket Still Unclaimed - 10-07-09

October 7 - Lotto fans in the UK are speculating wildly about how and why a winning National Lottery ticket worth a staggering £3.6 million has still remained unclaimed, even after the draw that yielded the lottery jackpot took place almost two weeks ago, and despite loads of publicity.

Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery has appealed for the owner of the lucky lottery ticket to come forward so that he or she can claim their windfall. The only thing known about the winning lottery ticket is that it was bought in Scotland, likely by someone living in one of four areas.

According to Camelot officials, the purchaser of the ticket is likely to hail from either Strathspey, Badenoch, Nairn or Inverness. As happens sometimes, when large National Lottery jackpots are won, it sometimes takes weeks and even months for their lucky ticket holders to come forward.

And this seems to be one of those cases. Either the winner has no idea that they are the UK's latest lotto millionaire, or they are waiting for the media frenzy to die down before they claim their prize. The winning lotto numbers, which were drawn on September 23, are 23, 25, 28, 41, 46 and 47.

Said a National Lottery spokesperson, 'We are urging lottery players everywhere to check their tickets so we can pay out this fantastic jackpot prize and the ticket-holder can start to enjoy their win. The lucky ticket could be hidden in a drawer, down the back of the sofa or in plain sight.'

Other notable unclaimed National Lottery jackpot-wielding tickets in Scotland include a EuroMillions lottery ticket worth €119,777, which was bought in the Dundee area for the August 28 draw, and a Lotto ticket worth €101,849, which was bought in Glasgow for the May 6 draw.

'A life-changing cheque could be yours if you can just match those six crucial numbers,' continued the National Lottery spokesperson, appealing for UK National Lottery players to always remember to check their often forgotten tickets. Unclaimed UK lottery tickets expire after 6 months.
