November 11 - Last week nine lucky UK lottery players each found out what it
feels like to be an instant multi-millionaire after their respective syndicates
had the only two winning
Euromillions lottery tickets that netted each more than €45.5 million,
which will change their lives forever.
Of the nine winners Les Scadding and his wife Samantha Peachey-Scadding from
south Wales were the luckiest as they only have to divide their half of the €91m
Euromillions jackpot by two, whereas the syndicate of IT workers from Merseyside
will have to split their winnings seven ways.
But that still means that each person will walk away with just over €6.5
million, not bad for a few pounds investment. This Euromillions jackpot
is reportedly one of the largest in the UK and will no doubt be remembered for
some time. As for the lucky winners, they now have pots of money.
Perhaps the most reticesnent of all the winners was 58-year-old Les Scadding,
who has been very lucky once before in his life. Five years ago he was diagnosed
with cancer, but following treatment has been given the all-clear. Now if he
needs it, he can afford the world's best medical attention.
Said the Welshman at a news conference, 'I'm lucky to be here today even without
my winnings.' As to what the father of three from a previous marriage intends to
do with his winnings, a new Range Rover Sport seems high on his list. 'I've
never owned a new car, so I'm going to buy one now.'
As for what his wife intends to do with her share of the fortune, she is still
playing her cards close to her chest. Scadding reportedly bought the winning
lucky dip Euromillions lottery ticket because he forgot to take a list of his
usual numbers with him when he bought his tickets. Talk about lucky.
The other winners, dubbed by the UK media as the 'The Magnificent Seven',
comprise John Walsh, 57, James Bennett, 28, Sean Connor, 32, Alex Parry, 19,
Emma Cartwright, 23, Ceri Scullion, 35 and Donna Rhodes, 39, all of whom used to
work for Hewlett Packard in Liverpool. That is until they all resigned.
