Dale Winton signs 750k Lotto deal with BBC - 02-25-09 |
February 25 - This week 53-year-old Dale Winton, a popular UK TV presenter and well-known radio DJ, signed a lucrative two-year deal with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) worth 750,000 pounds, to present a new TV Lotto quiz show on Saturday evenings.
Winton was the logical choice as the host of the new show called We Know Where You Live, as he already hosts the UK National Lottery's primetime In It To Win It television show, itself a huge hit that attracts six millions viewers every week. It is also aired on Saturday nights.
Each week in In It To Win It, five contestants compete against each other to win a big-money jackpot. One contestant could either win it all, share the money, or lose everything last penny on the final question. Aimed at the whole family, the show is one of the most watched in the UK.
According to industry insiders, the pilot of We Know Where You Live will be aired in the United Kingdom later this month and is expected to deliver a 'powerful entertainment punch' as well as feature the UK National Lottery's regular lotto draws - Lotto, Lotto Extra and Thunderball.
We Know Where You Live will reportedly host contestants who get paired up based on their postal codes, and who then have to answer a series of general knowledge questions. The contestant who gets the most questions right will have the chance to win a luxury break in the UK.
Said Winton at being awarded the lucrative We Know Where You Live contract, 'I am delighted, as my association with UK Lottery shows goes back many happy and successful years. This exciting new extension means that I can give my full commitment to the extra Lottery programs.'
After the We Know Where You Live pilot is broadcast, the BBC will commission a full series. To date the UK National Lottery has raised over 22 billion pounds for good causes.
