January 20 - No, the lucky Englishman who recently won a whopping £26.1
million
EuroMillions lottery jackpot is not called Cabby George, but
rather George Sturt. Believe it or not but the 76-year-old widower still drives
a taxi cab in and around Dorking in county Surrey, England where he lives.
And that may not change despite the twenty six million quid windfall. Little did
George realize that when he bought his EuroMillions lottery tickets last week
that he would end up winning the jackpot. However, still upset by the loss of
his wife Maureen to cancer, he is reportedly looking donate much of it
According to reports, after George has shared the EuroMillions jackpot
with the three other members of his lottery syndicate - namely his sons Colin,
53, Gary, 51 and daughter Teresa, 44, he'll donate a generous portion of his
share to cancer research as well as to charities he and his wife supported.
The EuroMillions winning numbers 11, 26, 29, 49, and 50 and lucky star numbers 4
and 7 secured George and his family their life-changing lottery fortune. Said
George, 'I couldn't believe it when I found out. But I don't care about having a
lot of money. I'm just glad my children will be looked after.'
Surprisingly perhaps, George says he intends to continue driving cabs part time
despite his bulging bank balance. I wouldn't give it up,' he said. 'I have met
too many nice people through it.' He says he likes his routine just the way it
is, including picking up his close friend Stanley Clear, 96, twice a week.
When interviewed by The Sun newspaper, said George's son Colin, 'I am still in a
state of shock. This sort of thing happens to other people and not people like
us. It's absolutely crazy. We put £4 each into a syndicate each week, but you
don't in your wildest dreams ever think you?re going to hit it big like this.'
In November last year, Les Scadding and his wife Samantha Peachey-Scadding won a
EuroMillions lottery jackpot of almost £46 million. The EuroMillions Lottery is
Europe's biggest rolling jackpot lottery game where players get to choose 5
numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 1 to 9.
