Broncos Latest NFL Team to Team up with Lottery - 09-17-09

September 16 - In a growing trend to generate additional revenues, the NFL's Denver Broncos have become the latest professional sports team to sign a lucrative sponsorship deal with its state lottery that will see the Colorado football team plastered over an instant win lottery scratch card game.

The Broncos recently signed a deal with the Colorado Lottery that saw the scratch tickets go on sale from Monday this week, which offer lottery fans the chance to win many generous prizes, including 50 pairs of 2010 NFL season tickets. Sales of the Broncos tickets will be closely monitored.

According the Colorado Lottery, if all 1.8 million of the $5 tickets are sold, gross revenues will total $9 million, $6.3 million of which will be paid out in prizes, and  $1.5 million of which will go to wildlife protection, parks and trails in the state. The Denver Broncos will receive up to $537,000.

Said Colorado Lottery director, Jack Boehm, 'We're excited to be partnering with the Denver Broncos to offer our players a chance to win some unique prizes. The Broncos have such great brand recognition that it made sense to use that to benefit the causes supported the Colorado Lottery.'

Other great prizes include the chance to watch the Denver Broncos take on the Oakland Raiders on December 20th in a luxury suite at Invesco Field at Mile High, as well as tickets for two to an away game in the 2010 season, including airfare, accommodation, a $300 meal allowance and $1,000 in spending money.

Said Denver Broncos President/CEO, Pat Bowlen, 'The Broncos-themed lottery scratch ticket will allow the fans to show their support for the football team as well as for numerous local recreational areas, including several used for youth football, that receive funding from the Colorado Lottery.'

The Denver Broncos are the 16th team to take advantage of a new rule approved by NFL owners to allow teams to partner with local lotteries.
