November 4 - Despite continued appeals from the Virginia Lottery for
the sole winner of a recent $200 million Mega Millions jackpot to come forward
and claim his or her huge windfall, up until now nobody has come forward
although they have 180 days from draw date before they forfeit their prize.
When the Virginia Lottery revealed that one lucky ticket holder had scooped the
entire $200m prize from a
Mega
Millions lottery draw held two and a half weeks ago, lottery officials
and lottery fans alike expected the fortunate winner to come forward almost
immediately and begin their life of untold luxury.
However, either the winner is shy and is waiting for the obligatory media frenzy
to die down before coming forward to claim their Virginia Lottery millions, or
they are simply unaware that they are sitting on a winning Mega Millions ticket
that will undoubtedly change their lives and that of their family's forever.
While Virginia Lottery officials are keen to handover the Mega Millions mountain
of money, they do not seem to be surprised that the lucky winner is taking their
time coming forward. They say what sometimes happens is that the more canny
winners consult financial advisers before claiming their jackpots.
Said Virginia Lottery executive director, Paula Otto, 'We're actually quite
pleased that the winner seems to be taking his or her time in getting all of the
financial advice that they should be getting, so that when they come in and make
that life changing Mega Millions jackpot claim, they will be ready for it.'
What is known about the winning Mega Millions ticket is that it was sold in the
Shenandoah Valley. Incredibly, this is the third time that this region of
Virginia has yielded a Mega Millions lottery winner. No doubt lottery fans from
nearby will start buying their lotto tickets in this picturesque part of the
state.
The winning numbers that yielded the $200 million jackpot were 10, 13, 18, 33,
51 and Mega Ball 43. The draw took place on Friday, October 16 2009.
